We are searching for a Director of Mechanical Engineering to lead WiTricity s Mechanical design function. The team consists of full-time and external resources responsible for design, prototyping, and manufacturing of WiTricity Charging Product (to 22KW) and Reference design. We are seeking an individual with product, industrial design, and manufacturing experience in addition to experience managing and leading a team.This is a key position as WiTricity brings to market the world s first Electric Vehicle wireless charging system. We are transforming a prototype system into an attractive, serviceable, costed down, mass producible product that can be sold world-wide through a partner channel. As the product will be placed indoor and outdoor, it will need to meet challenging requirements for temperature, weather, drive-over, and safety.ResponsibilitiesLead WiTricity s Mechanical Engineering team consisting of internal and external resources located domestic and internationallyManage a team of 3 - 6 mechanical design engineers responsible for the simulation, design, and execution of ground and vehicle side mechanicalsSupport internal operations team responsible for build, assembly, and test of small quantity system shipmentsManage external suppliers responsible for delivery of custom parts during the prototyping phaseSupport & collaborate with peers in electrical design and softwareSupport & collaborate with design partners responsible for industrial design of the productSupport & collaborate with manufacturing partners to introduce product into mass productionInitiate continuous improvement through training, seminar, and other learning strategiesOwn, cultivate, and enhance the mechanical design & development processInstitute best practicesCreate and drive scheduleAbility to be hands-on with the team to resolve challengesOverall responsibility for the mechanical design process, including specifications, architecture, design, development, test, and debug of components used in WiTricity s Wireless Power Electric Vehicle systemWork with Program and Engineering Management to ensure product is developed that meets functional, quality, and schedule commitmentsWork with Product Management and the Executive team to establish strategic plans and objectives regarding roadmapAbility to anticipate strategic challenges in product design/pre-production process and propose solutionsAdvocate and influence product management/program management decisions and schedules based on best practicesRequirementsBS or MS in Mechanical Engineering8+ years Mechanical design experience3+ years in a Leadership Role including people managementExperience with the following:industrial, automotive, or consumer productsusing Solidworks or similar mechanical CAD programIndustrial Design, Electrical Design, and Software Developmentmanufacturing and production productsworking in a small company (1KW)latest advances in materials and manufacturing techniques.
