Position Overview

The Social Worker will;

  • Work with Shelter staff to identify unmet needs among shelter residents. Develop plans to engage residents in supplementary services
  • Develop and identify a schedule of groups of various content conducted within and outside of the facility
  • Provide crisis intervention services and if necessary, refer clients for psychiatric assessment
  • Maintain updated information about mental health, substance abuse treatment and other social services in the community
  • Be a resource to Case managers and their clients
  • Work with clients and case managers in developing treatment plan and identifying community based referrals for client to continue treatment upon move out
  • Maintain data about service utilization
  • Provide administrative and clinical supervision to staff
  • Attend, participate and facilitate regular staff trainings and meetings
  • Maintain confidentiality and privacy regarding all clients information
  • Complete incident reports in accordance with policy and procedures
  • Report any actual or suspected abuse/neglect in accordance with policy and procedure
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of the clients on a daily basis
  • Work cooperatively with entire team to carry out the program goals and objectives for each client
  • Understand and implement the agency s philosophy, policies and mission Understand and implement the agency s philosophy, policies and mission
  • Comply with all SUS Employee Policies, Procedures, and Protocols, SUS Corporate Compliance Policies, and NYS Dept. of Social Services Rules, Regulations, and Statutes

  • Master s Degree in Social Work required, LMSW preferred
  • Preference is given to those who have experience working on a multi- disciplinary team and/or previous experience with homeless population
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, to assist adults of diverse ethnicities, backgrounds, ages, and sexual preferences
  • Bilingual preferred
  • A schedule that includes some evenings and some weekends will be required
